BLOOMINGDALE GOLFERS CLUB ( 813-685-4105)
Florida Golf Course Review 12/12/04
Bloomingdale Golfers Club in Hillsborough County just outside of Tampa is a Ron Garl championship design that
has been rated with 3 1/2 stars by Golf Digest Places to Play - and actually deserves more! Recognized as one
of the Tampa area's premier facilities, Bloomingdale features century old oaks, natural marsh preserves alive
with abundant native wildlife, fields of wildflowers and 13 lakes. The natural setting of the land is unspoiled by the
routing of the course, which winds through tree lined fairways which are flanked by pampas grass and massive
waste areas, with strategic bunkering along the fairways and greenside. Half of this 219 acre property is still a wildlife preserve.
The clubhouse at Bloomingdale matches the course for aesthetics and quality. On property is a full service golf
shop - which is not your ordinary golf course pro shop. Competitive pricing, custom club fitting/making, and a
huge selection of attire and accessories help this facility to rival the service provided at top golf stores.
The Legends Grill provides a casual dining atmosphere, and locker room facilities for men and women include
showers plus full wooden lockers. The practice area features a double-tiered range with target areas, a 1000
square foot putting green and short game area with sand bunker. With excellent year round playing conditions
and wonderful banquet facilities, it is no wonder that Bloomingdale is a favorite for corporate outings and for special events.
The golf course is recognized as a tough but fair test, with 5 sets of tees that play to 7165 yards/131 slope, 6651
yards/123 slope, 6386 yards/121 slope, 6038 yards/118 slope and 5397 yards with a slope of 132 for women.
The 74.4 course rating from the tips indicates that scratch golfers will have their work cut out for them. The four
par fives play to 546, 564, 547 and 514 yards, and have been described as the best collection in the state. The
on course marking system includes color coded discs on the fairways at 100, 150, 200 and at 250 yards on par
fives. Sprinkler heads also provide measurements to the center of the green. Small markers on the flagsticks
indicate front, middle or back hole locations. Golfers will find that bunkering is understated but strategic with 36 sand traps or waste areas along the layout, and water is in play on 13 holes.
Bloomingdale Golfers Club has been rated # 15 in the state by Golf Digest, and has hosted PGA Tour Qualifying
School, U S Open Qualifiers, and a Florida State Amateur. Many publications annually rank the course as one of
Florida's top ten. This is a gorgeous golf course that provides all a golfer needs to enjoy a premier experience -
great layout, wonderful aesthetics, conditioning and amenities - and fine service. For more info, visit our page for
