DEBARY GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB (386-668-1705)
Florida Golf Course Review
Debary Golf & Country Club, located 25 minutes from Orlando, is a beautiful and challenging Lloyd Clifton design developed on terrain that is unique for
Florida - featuring mature pines lining fairways that play along rolling hills and valleys. The undulating topography and serene setting of this property,
which is situated on 755 acres in an upscale residential community, is reminiscent of golf in the Carolinas. There are some interesting doglegs mixed in
with holes that play straight away. Debary played host for qualifying for the 2003 Senior Open.
Four sets of tees at Debary play to distances and slopes measuring 6776 yards/137 slope, 6234 yards/130 slope, 5862 yards/124 slope for men and 134
for women, and 5060 yards with a slope of 119 from the forward sets. Fairways are marked with yardage blocks posted at 100, 150 and 200 yards (250
on par fives) and pin placement info provided daily for the 5 rotating hole locations. Some sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green, and
there also are 150 yard flags on par fours and fives on this course, which plays through an upscale residential community.
On property is a full service clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant/lounge, banquet and outing facilities for up to 300 people plus locker rooms with showers
for members only. There also is a targeted grass range and practice green. Six holes have water in play, and there are over 40 sand bunkers situated
greenside or near the landing zones along the fairways. Most of the raised putting surfaces are well protected by sand traps, and the playing surfaces are
only slightly sloped with mild undulations.
Many of the fairways are tree lined and sparingly bunkered, and there is often ample room for error off the tee. The back nine plays slightly tighter than the
front. The two closing holes on either side play directly at one another - with a set of trees separating the two green complexes and with water in play on both holes.
Debary is a time honored and traditional design, presenting some twists and turns that form some extremely interesting golf holes. The property is located
about 35 minutes north of Orlando. For more info, including a map & directions plus direct link to their website, visit our page for the course on our web
