Halifax Plantation is considered by many to be one of the top golf facilities in the Daytona Beach area. The
clubhouse is one of the most comprehensive we have seen. Featured in this colonial designed structure is pro
shop, Tavern by the Green" restaurant/lounge that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a special Sunday
Brunch, a conference room that can seat up to 20 people and a Grand Ballroom that can accommodate up to
250 guests. There also is a pub where guests can watch sporting events and dine on casual fare. The restaurant
is known far and wide as one of the Daytona areas finest eateries, featuring a wide array of homemade specialties!
Guests can enjoy beautiful locker rooms with showers - available for the paying public. Practice facilities include
a targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker and putting green. Weather covers are standard on
all carts, and the course is well marked from tee to green. 100, 150 and 200 yard markers (stakes and blocks)
are positioned in the fairways and sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green. Pin Placement
information is included on each score card, which also provide a course layout with hole diagrams.
There are five sets of tees that play to distances and slopes measuring 7102 yards/128 slope, 6691 yards/124
slope, 6215 yards/120 slope, 5627 yards/111 slope for men and 125 for women, and 4922 yards with a slope of
118 for women hitting from the red tees. The tee boxes, cart paths and areas around the green are magnificently landscaped, with pampas, flowers and tropical foliage meticulously cared for.
The layout is player friendly, with ample tree lined fairways that lead to large undulating greens that are slightly
raised. The playing surfaces are Bermuda with rye over-seed during winter months - and on our late February
visit the course was in great shape from tee to green - and we are told the putting surfaces are some of the
area's best - all year round. There are 41 soft sand bunkers strategically located along the fairways or greenside, and water comes into play on just 3 holes.
