Hammock Creek Golf Club (772) 220-2599
Florida Golf Course Review
Designed by Jack Nicklaus II and Jack Nicklaus, Hammock Creek Golf Club is located in Palm City, Florida just minutes off I-95 and the Florida Turnpike. Home to numerous Gateway Tour events, at first glance this
unassuming course appears to be typical for a residential community location but after beginning play, golfers
will find the layout interesting, the conditions impeccable and the greens immaculate and fast.
The Nicklaus team designed this par 72 course with generous fairways and five sets of tees to make the course
playable and enjoyable for golfers of all levels. At 7119 yards with a slope of 132, the championship tees will
challenge even the most seasoned duffers. The Gold tees play an equally challenging 6719 yards with a slope of
126, the blue at 6310 yards with a slope of 122, the white play 5912 yards with a slope of 118 for men and 128
for women, and the forward tees play 5045 yards with a slope of 119 for men and 113 for women.
Carts at Hammock Creek are equipped with ProLink GPS units that accurately provide distance to the pin as
well as offering detailed information on fairway and green layout, pin placement, hazard distances, and pro tips
on playing each hole. In addition, sprinkler heads are marked and yardage blocks are located in the center of each fairway at 100, 150, 200 yards. 250 yard blocks are located on par 5's.
The clubhouse features a large, well-stocked pro shop with efficient and friendly staff, the Grillroom offering light
snacks and beverages, locker facilities, and can accommodate groups of up to 80 persons. The grass at
Hammock Creek is 419 Bermuda on the tees, fairways and greens. Players will find excellent conditioning on the wide-open fairways.
Hammock Creek is a favorite with the locals and its easy to see why. Playability is the name of the game at
Hammock Creek. While some holes offer very challenging tee shots with water and some of the 70+ sand
bunkers on the course coming in to play, most fairways are generous enough to provide ample landing space.
Some holes are dotted with strategically placed stands of pampas grass and waste bunkers, while 11 hole
feature beautiful water hazards with abundant wildlife which add to the aesthetics of this course. Greens are
ample, fair, and fast but missed chips will fail to bounce out of the soft aprons that surround them. Although
Hammock Creek is constructed in a residential community, the home are not intrusive and provide no distraction.
Hammock Creek is also a great value course. Rates for play in 2005 vary between $85 and $39 (plus tax)
depending on the time of the week and time of day. For current pricing information contact the pro shop.
