Florida Golf Course Review
Heritage Bay, located in beautiful Naples, is a 27-hole Lewis-Azinger designed championship golf course that offers hand mowed Tifeagle grass greens.
The wide and rolling fairways set amongst acres of natural preserves and crystal blue lakes, make this course nothing shy of spectacular. Time
constraints only allowed us the opportunity to take photos on 18 of the 27-holes so we chose the Pine and Cypress courses.
Practice facilities include a targeted aqua range with grass hitting stations and a large practice putting green. Amenities include a pro shop and chikee bar
with a lunch menu. The 27,000 square foot first-class clubhouse, completed in April 2008, features beautiful lakeside casual and fine dining restaurants,
relaxation lounges with saunas, a billiard room and a large card room. An additional 8,000 square foot state-of-the-art fitness facility, including a salon and
massage room, completes the resort style amenities.
The layout features wide landing zones surrounded by water so golfers will be rewarded for accurate play and penalized for mistakes off the tees and on
the approach. Mounding is consistent off the sides of the fairways causing difficult, uneven lies for those who don't hit their target. The putting surfaces
undulate and slope in every direction, and are well guarded by sand bunkers
There are five sets of tee boxes to choose from at Heritage bay providing opportunity for golfers of any skill level to enjoy a relaxing round, or really test
their skills. Depending on the tee, the distances on the Oak-Pine measure from 4,788 to 7,012 yards with slopes from107 to140 for men, 115 and 123 for
women playing the front two tee boxes. For the Cypress-Pine distances range 4,729 to 6,979 yards with slopes of 103 to 136 for men, and 116 and 121
for women. For the Cypress-Oaks distances range from 4,845 to 7,177 with slopes of 107 to 136 for men, and 115 and 123 for women.
Bunkering is understated and water comes into play on each of the 27-holes. Although there are only forty six bunkers in total, they are strategically
located especially near greens forcing accurate iron play. 100, 150 and 200 yard blocks are posted on the fairways along with marked sprinkler heads
that are measured to the center of the green. Pin placement information is provided by color coded flags on every green.
The pleasant staff and an outstanding facility at Heritage make for a wonderful golf experience. For more info, visit our page for the course, with a direct link to their website by clicking here.
