HUNTERS CREEK GOLF CLUB (407-240-4653)
Florida Golf Course Review
With five sets of tees playing from 5,225 to 7268 yards, Hunter's Creek Golf Club in Orlando presents a
formidable challenge for golfers of all skill levels. 83 soft sand bunkers are scattered about the property, which
also includes 10 lakes that create hazards on 13 of the holes. The course was opened in 1996 as the recreational centerpiece to an expansive planned residential community encompassing 6 square miles and 4
,000 acres.
property is a large targeted grass range and putting green. An upscale clubhouse - includes a 1,200 square foot
golf shop, restaurant/lounge, locker rooms with showers plus banquet/outing facilities. The course provides 150
yard stakes plus yardage blocks at 100, 150 and 200 yards on the fairways. Pin placements are located on the scorecard.
Mid to high handicappers would seem to have their hands full playing from the 6482 yard green tees, though only
4 par fours play to 400 yards plus - the longest being 424. The par threes are relatively short from these tee
areas, measuring between 140 and 165 yards, but three of the four par fives play to 521 yards plus.
Large, sloping putting surfaces are mildly undulating but are usually sloped from back to front, and are often
raised and framed by bunkers on each side. Greenside mounding is mild in nature, affording ample
opportunities for recoveries. The fairways are generally tree lined with pines and provide ample landing zones.
We found the course to be in wonderful condition from tee to green on our late September 2005 visit. The terrain
is gently rolling, and the course design is quite varied with shot shapes bending in either direction. Architect
Lloyd Clifton added plenty of diversity to this layout with the addition of the numerous lakes.
Hunters Creek is a beautiful golf course that is easily accessible from the Disney area, and affords reasonable
rates year round. Those who love to hit driver will have their fill here, as long tee shots are called for on many
holes. The elements of wind, water, vegetation and sand also make for an interesting experience. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
