Magnolia Plantation Golf Club in Lake Mary is a championship golf course designed by Dave Harman that
provides a beautiful setting with plentiful lakes and ponds that create a natural habitat for abundant wildlife including deer, bear, fox, blue heron, wild turkeys, hawks and other waterfowl.
Golfers will also enjoy the new tif-eagle greens, which are medium in size and mild in undulation. There is
perimeter mounding and plentiful bunkering - both greenside and near the landing zones on the mildly rolling
fairways. The design winds through a beautiful residential community, but the fabulous scenery makes for a
serene golf experience. There is water in play in some shape or form on 15 holes and 50 sand bunkers situated near the landing zones or greenside also provide challenge and aesthetics.
Four sets of tee areas play to distances and slopes measuring 7175 yards/137 slope, 6587 yards/135 slope,
5873 yards/127 slope for men and 144 for women, and 5240 yards with s slope of 134 for ladies hitting from the
forward tees. As the slope ratings indicate - this is a challenging layout...average golfers are advised to play
from the whites. There are some forced carries, but most of the holes do provide some bail out room to one side
or the other near the greens. The fairways are quite generous, but accurate iron play is necessary to reach the greens in regulation.
On property is a clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant/lounge with banquet/outing facilities plus locker rooms with
showers for men and women. Practice facilities include a targeted grass range, short game area with sand
bunkers, and spacious putting green. Golfers will appreciate the rear covers on all carts, designed to keep clubs dry during inclement weather.
Pro Link GPS is also standard on all carts, providing accurate information from tee to pin, as well as hole
diagrams and other relevant information. The fairways are 419 Bermuda, and the course is kept in fine condition.
The 5 opening holes will keep golfers on their toes, as all demand accurate approaches over or around water.
The three finishing holes are also strong, with ponds and significant bunkering providing the challenge.
