PALM AIRE GOLF - The Palms Course (954-974-7699)
Florida Golf Course Review
General information
Palm Aire in Pompano Beach has been described as South Florida's most complete golf experience. On property are 4 golf courses, 2 full service
clubhouses with pro shops, 2 golf schools, 2 restaurants, banquet and outing facilities, and over 30 tennis courts. Practice facilities include 2 driving
ranges, 4 practice greens, 2 short game areas and a four-hole practice loop. Since 1994, over $14,000,000 has been invested to renovate the golf
courses and amenities. The Oaks and Cypress Courses are serviced by one clubhouse, and the Palms and Sabals by another. All five courses are open
for public play for daily fee and for group outings.
Palm Aire has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments including the Florida Open, Dixie Amateur Championship, and Nike Tour's South Florida Classic.
The Oaks and Cypress layouts are regarded among the finest 36 holes of golf in the tri-county area. The courses provide yardage blocks on the fairways,
sprinkler heads that are measured to the center of the green, plus color coded flags to indicate the days pin placement.
PALMS COURSE
The Pines, Palms and Sabals courses are serviced by the Palms clubhouse, which features the Palms Dining Room and lounge that can seat up to 275
guests (also serves as a multi purpose facility with a dance floor and stage), plus the alcove and East Rooms as meeting, party and banquet facilities.
These areas provide comfortable space for intimate partiers, and for special functions of up to 110 people.
The Palms Course is the property's original layout - A 3 star (Golf Digest Places to Play) William Mitchell design that was renovated in 1996 by Karl Litten
and Lorie Viola, with a state of the art irrigation system and additional cart paths added. Host to countless major golf events, this timeless classic is a true
resort course and a memorable golf experience. Parallel and lateral water hazards challenge golfers to keep the ball on the fairway, and oversized greens
allow for a variety of pin placements. An abundance of native palm trees also line the course. Five sets of tees provide golfers with an opportunity to play
from distances and slopes measuring 6931 yards/128 slope, 6588 yards/125 slope, 6363 yards/118 slope, 5672 yards/111 slope and 5431 yards with a
118 slope for the ladies. As the slope ratings indicate, this is a nice course for the mid to high handicapper.
The Sabals 18-hole executive layout is also on property. This 3395 yard layout features 4 short par fours and 14 par threes varying in length from 93 to
193 yards. It is the perfect experience for beginners and juniors, for those with limited time or for players wishing to hone their short and mid-iron play. (the
Sabals Course was being renovated as of this writing, and will re-open in the winter of 2004/05) Palm Aire is conveniently located off Florida's Turnpike
near the Atlantic Blvd exit north of Ft Lauderdale and south of Palm Beach, and is also easily accessible from I-95 at exit 33. For more information, visit our
