PLANTATION PRESERVE GOLF COURSE & CLUB (954-585-5020)
Florida Golf Course Review
Plantation Preserve Golf Course & Club is a 7148 yard par 72 championship course that is located in the heart
of the City of Plantation. Opened in January of 2006, this course provides an upscale golf experience with
affordable rates (that top out at just over $100 during the 2006/07 season) for golfers in the SE Florida region.
Built on 211 acres that features 27 acres of natural wetlands, Plantation Preserve features some memorable golf holes, including the challenging par four ninth, with a venerable island green.
The 6,600 square foot clubhouse features a pro shop, restaurant & lounge and banquet/outing facilities that will
accommodate up to 160 guests, plus a beautifully landscaped outdoor terrace. There are locker rooms with
showers for both men and women. Members of the community and visitors are able to enjoy a 1.5 mile linear
park trail that winds its way through the golf course and wetland areas. A full service practice facility rests in front
of the clubhouse, with targeted grass range, putting greens and 2 short game areas with sand bunkers. The
course features 5 sets of tees that play to distances measuring 7148, 6704, 6250, 5801 and 5175 yards with slope ratings between 112 and 138.
This Audubon certified design presents wide fairways that are often bound by a series of lakes that wind through
the property creating some interesting hazards. In all, 13 holes have water in play in some shape or form and
over 80 deep, soft white sand bunkers are located greenside or near the landing areas along the fairways.
These hazards, along with scattered tree and native brush help to define several doglegs that make for an
extremely interesting round. They also provide a natural environment that many native waterfowl and wildlife species call home.
As witnessed in these photos, there is significant mounding on the sides of most fairways, and the green
complexes are generally raised and well bunkered. The par threes are especially beautiful with wood retaining
walls framing the green complexes and adjacent ponds on several holes. Manicured conditioning from tee to green plus an interesting design make this a "must play" in Southeast Florida.
Uplink GPS on all carts provides hole descriptions and accurate yardage from tee to pin. Weather covers on the carts are also an appreciated feature.
