GRAND CYPRESS RESORT

New Course Preview
Forty five holes of Jack Nicklaus designed golf form the centerpiece of the Grand Cypress Resort - which was one of only 18 resorts nation-wide awarded Gold Medal status by Golf
Magazine in 2000. Luxurious accommodations are available in club suites, villas and standard and deluxe hotel
rooms. This a complete resort with dining arrangements varying from casual to elegant, and with upscale
amenities and recreational facilities rivaling top resorts worldwide. Transportation throughout the resort, morning
newspaper delivery, complimentary movie videos and cable channels, use of health club and sauna, and use of
bicycles are just some of the perks that are free to all resort guests. Recreational opportunities are too many to mention here - but golf is certainly the main draw.
On our visit in March 2003 we reviewed the North and South nines, which comprise the tournament course at the
resort. The East completes the original 27-hole layout - opened for public play in 1984. The New Course was
added in 1988, and features a links style layout with 3 holes replicating those of the "Old Course" at St. Andrews.
One magnificent clubhouse services golfers on all 45 holes, and features a pro shop that carries a full line of
equipment, clothing and accessories, and has earned a Top 100 ranking from Golf Operations Magazine for five
years in a row! The 21 acre Grand Cypress Academy of Golf is on property, and practice facilities include a
complimentary grass range, short game area with bunkers and putting green. The New Course also has its own putting green and short game area.
Below are photos from a preview of the New Course - which will be reviewed in total on a later date. This links
style layout features wide fairways with undulating mounds, sod-faced fairway and deep green-side bunkers,
meandering berms, and undulating double green complexes. Holes number 1, 17 and 18 correspond and are replicas of the same holes on the Old Course at St. Andrews.
Look for our upcoming New Course review, and for informational pages on the courses and Grand Cypress
Resort on our Florida Golf Vacation destination site which will be initiated in the late summer of 2003.
