River Bend Golf Club in Ormond Beach just north of Daytona is a Lloyd Clifton championship design that is nestled into 300 wooded acres along the
Tomoka River - creating a serene, secluded golf environment. The Tomoka is designated as one of Florida's outstanding waters" and an "Aquatic
Preserve" - a Manatee sanctuary. Significant wetlands throughout the course indicate the property's commitment to the preservation of the environment.
The golf facilities include some of the finest practice facilities in the state - a targeted grass range that is double ended, short game area with sand bunker
and two huge putting greens. The clubhouse features a nice pro shop plus restaurant/lounge that serves breakfast and lunch items, with banquet/outing
capacities that can accommodate up to 170 guests. Golfers will enjoy the little extras that include ball and club washers and rear weather covers on each cart.
The layout features well bunkered fairways and greens, which are moderate in size and undulation. Some of the putting complexes are slightly raised, with
frequent mounding creating some difficulties for offline approaches. Tree lined fairways provide ample landing areas along an undulating terrain, with
interestingly shaped holes cut from forests of pines and palms. Water comes into play on just two holes - but 50 sand traps - some of them high lipped and
penal in nature, will keep players on their toes.
Four sets of tee boxes provide golfers with the choice of playing to distances and slopes that measure 6821 yarss/135 slope, 6347 yards/129 slope, 5905
yards/122 slope and 5552 yards with a slope of 112 from the forward tees. 100, 150 and 200 yards markers as well as a 150-yard stake can be found on
the fairways of all par fours and fives, and sprinkler heads are also measured to the center of the green. Pin placement info is mounted on each cart - to
designate front, middle and back hole locations on the Bermuda greens, which are over-seeded with poa for the colder months.
River Bend is located near the Ormond County Municipal airport - but except for a few holes - provide quiet seclusion and a chance to get away from the
