SPRUCE CREEK COUNTRY CLUB (386-756-6114)
Florida Golf Course Review 2/20/06
Spruce Creek in Daytona Beach is A Bill Amick championship design featuring carefully manicured fairways,
tees and greens on two distinctive nines. The front side is tree lined with tight landing zones while the back is
more open, with ponds and lakes providing significant water hazards. The golf facilities are located in America's
premier Fly-In Community, with local landing and take off access at the adjacent airstrip. Fly in, play a round and fly out...what a way to go...
On property is a 20,000 square foot practice facility including 2 putting greens, a chipping green, short game
area with sand bunkers plus targeted grass range. The clubhouse provides a pro shop, a beautiful restaurant/lounge with outdoor patio, and locker rooms with showers for men and women. Members enjoy
special privileges including a private locker room, swimming pool and tennis center.
Four sets of tees play to distances and slopes measuring 6894 yards/136 slope, 6410 yards/134 slope, 6063
yards/126 slope and 5176 yards with a 123 slope rating from the forward tees. On course 150-yard stakes are
posted in the fairways on all par fours and fives, Cart paths and fairway markers are provided at 100, 150 and
200 yards, and sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green. Pin placement sheets are mounted on each cart, to indicate the day's hole locations.
Large, mildly undulating putting surface are sculpted into green complexes that are slightly raised and well
protected by sand bunkers. In total, 51 sand traps are situated greenside or near the landing zones on the
fairways, and water - mostly on the perimeter, comes into play on 12 of the holes. The par threes on the back
side (in photos above) are two of the prettier water holes. The bermuda rough is dormant during the winter, but
rye over-seed on the tees, fairways and greens keeps the course looking fresh and green. The layout winds
through an upscale residential community that is landscaped with a variety of palms and lush tropical foliage.
Green fees including cart for non-Florida residents topped out at around $65 in 2006 - which makes an
experience here a good bang for the buck! Fine dining and social activities are additional member amenities.
Visitors can dine in for lunch 7 days a week, but dinners are available to members and guests only! For more information, visit our page for Spruce Creek, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
