WATERLEFE GOLF & RIVER CLUB (239-744-0393)
Florida Golf Course Review
Waterlefe near Bradenton is one of the premier championship golf facilities in the southern part of West Florida. Located about 1 hour south of Tampa,
Waterlefe is an 18-hole championship design that has served as a host of the 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2010 US Open Qualifying Tournaments.
Located in Bradenton, this layout features Tiff Eagle putting surfaces and is known for its outstanding conditioning from tee to green. The ample fairways
are gently rolling and lined by sand waste areas that serve as cart paths. Bunkers, mounds, lakes and natural areas form the perimeters with 59 sand
traps in total, and water comes into play on every hole in some shape or form.
There are 6 sets of tees that allow golfers of all skill levels to choose a set that will fit their game. The tips measure 6879 yards with a 143 slope, while
alternate sets play to 6462 yards/132 slope, 5951 yards/130 slope, 5474 yards/116 slope for men and 132 for women, 5213 yards/ 121 slope for men and
133 for women, and 4782 with a slope of 125 for ladies hitting from the red tees.
On property is a clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant/lounge plus locker rooms with showers for men and women. Practice facilities include an aqua driving
range, short game area with sand bunker plus putting green. A GPS on all carts provides accurate yardages from tee to the pin, and 100, 150 and 200
yard markers are also posted on all par fours and fives.
This course starts out nicely but gets better as you go, finishing with the incredibly beautiful par four 18th. This is one of the most picturesque golf holes in
the area - and the view from the bridge behind the green is post card worthy. The back nine features some beautiful water holes set in a lush environment,
with upscale residential properties lining the waterways. This course is definitely worth a look - highly recommended.
