WINDSOR PARKE GOLF CLUB (904-223-4653)
Florida Golf Course Review 2/20/06
Windsor Parke in Jacksonville is an Arthur Hills championship layout the features sculpted, rolling fairways,
strategic bunkering and dramatic elevation changes. The only nationally rated course in Jacksonville, Windsor
Parke has the distinction of being selected as one of Florida's top 100 courses. Located just minutes from the International Airport, this facility provides one of the best golfing values in NE Florida.
There are four sets of tees that play to distances and slopes measuring 6765 yards/136 slope, 6435 yards/132
slope, 6043 yards/122 slope and 5206 yards with a slope of 125 for women playing from the forward sets. On
property is a full service 7500 square foot clubhouse with pro shop, a beautiful restaurant/lounge with outdoor
patio, and banquet/outing facilities that can accommodate up to 200 guests. Practice facilities include a targeted grass range plus putting and chipping greens.
The course presents an interesting layout with a great group of par threes (two of them are featured in the photos
above), as three of the four demand a carry over water or marshlands. The par four 7th and 9th also feature a
forced carry - though short - over ponds off the tee. Thrill seekers can take advantage of some risk/reward
situations, especially on the 5th, 6th and 18 holes which can be shortened with an aggressive approach. The
fairways here are reasonably easy to hit, but some of the approaches are quite tight, with little room for error. Ten holes have water in play in some shape or form.
Golfers of all abilities will find the course to be challenging yet fair. There are 43 strategically placed bunkers,
located near the small to medium sized, mostly round shaped greens, or along the mix of open and tree lined
fairways. Some of the green complexes are raised and slope off to the sides, but most putting surfaces are fairly level. Land on the greens in regulation and good scores can be had.
On course yardage markers are posted on the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and on the cart paths at 125
and 175. 150 yard stakes are visible on par fours and fives, and sprinkler heads are also measured to the center
of the green. Color coded flags indicate front, middle and back hole locations. For more information on this course, visit our page for Windsor Parke, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
