BUFFALO CREEK GOLF COURSE (941-776-2611)
Florida Golf Course Review
Buffalo Creek in Palmetto just out side of Bradenton is an 18-hole championship course that features a mix of wide open and tree lined fairways, which are gently rolling in nature.
On my review round I encountered plenty of native wildlife, including alligators, large turtles, and a variety of waterfowl. One unique feature of Buffalo Creek is that there are no
residential properties along the course - making this a serene and enjoyable experience.
In total there are 30 soft sand bunkers situated near the landing zones or greenside, and water hazards come into play in some shape or form on 10 holes - four on the front and
the final 6 holes on the backside. some green complexes have no bunkers at all. The course is well marked with 100/150/200 yard markers on the fairways and cart paths. There
also is a 150 yard stake on all par fours and fives, which doubles as a directional device off the tee. Small markers on the flagsticks from top to bottom indicate the day's front,
middle or back hole locations.
There are 5 sets of tee boxes - with distances and slope ratings of 6926 yards/129 slope, 6401 yards/121 slope, 5795 yards/115 slope and 5234 yards with a slope of 121.
Family tees are also available with a yardage of 4339. There is no rating/slope for the family tee boxes. Avid golfers will enjoy a good challenge from the tips, and the alternative
tees, as the distances and slope indicate, are very player friendly.
Mounding is plentiful both along the fairways and also greenside. Generally speaking, there is ample room for recovery attempts - although the small, often undulating green
complexes can be a challenge. The terrain is gently rolling from tee to green, and most golfers will find the frequent level lies to their liking.
On property is a grass range and practice green, and a clubhouse with food and beverage service, plus pro shop. There also is a targeted grass driving range plus putting and
chipping greens. Beautiful new tifeagle greens were added in 2014 and the tee boxes and sand bunkers were also renovated. For more info on the course, visit our informational
