THE GOLF CLUB AT CYPRESS HEAD (386-756-5449)
Florida Golf Course Review
The Golf Club at Cypress Head is an Arthur Hills/ Mike Dasher designed championship layout situated amongst cypress forests and natural Florida wetlands. Mounding and
contours complement tree-lined fairways to make for an interesting and challenging design that is also playable for all levels of skills. Four sets of tees provide golfers with the
choice of playing to distances measuring 6832 with a 139 slope, 6362yards with a 130 slope, 5718 yards/119 slope for men and 137 for women and 4909 yards with slope rating
of 123 for ladies playing from the forward tees .
Fourteen of the 18 holes have water in play - with several forced carries (especially from the back sets), and wetlands often help to define landing zones. Bunkering is understated
(38 total) but strategic, and the green complexes are sloped and undulating. Golfers will have to successfully negotiate the frequent doglegs that bend in either direction, to score
well at Cypress Head. Fairway and greenside mounding are also prevalent, creating some tricky recovery opportunities. On our visit, the course was in wonderful shape from tee to green.
On property is a clubhouse with fully stocked pro shop, and Titleist club-fitting is available. The Cypress Head Bar & Grill offers a full bar menu, breakfast menus Wednesday,
Friday and Saturday, hot & cold sandwiches daily plus specialty dishes (and a Sunday Brunch), and on-property banquet facilities can accommodate groups of up to 150 guests.
The Kan 2 Golf Academy offers lessons and programs to service expert and novices, on the on-property practice facilities which include a range that is lit until 9pm for night
practice, plus a short game area and two putting greens.
The large Tif Dwarf putting surfaces are undulating and slightly raised - and hole locations are indicated by pin placement information mounted on each cart. Sprinkler heads are
measured to the center of the green, and cart paths and fairways provide 100, 150 and 200 yard markings. This course menders through an upscale residential community, and is
always open for public play. This is a beautifully maintained property, and is one of the most interesting layouts we observed in the Daytona area - highly recommended! For more
