EAGLE RIDGE GOLF CLUB (352)307-1668
Florida Golf Course Review
Eagle Ridge Golf Club, located in Del Webb's Spruce Creek C.C., about an hour and 20 minutes Northwest of Orlando offers tremendous changes in elevation and magnificent
vistas from all areas of the course. 36 holes of rolling fairways, large greens, and pine-filled ravines make for a great golfing experience for novice and avid golfers alike.
The clubhouse features a pro shop, a full menu restaurant open for lunch and dinner, plus banquet facilities for 250 people. The extensive practice facility includes a targeted
grass driving range, four putting greens, and three other greens for sand practice and chipping. The putting greens are located near the first tee at each nine hole course so there
is no excuse not to practice before a round.
On course the yardage marking system includes blocks in the middle of the fairway, and markers on the cart path measured to the center of the green at 100,150 and 200 yards,
with 150 yard stakes on all par fours and fives. The score cards include diagrams of the greens which include their depth and three possible pin placements.
Six sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes that very depending on which combination of the 36 holes are played. From the tips the Champions/Heritage plays the longest -
a total of 6901 yards and a slope of 129, and the shortest is the Memorial/Masters - 6622 yards/124 slope. For women playing the front tees the Memorial/Champions plays
shortest - 4631 yards/slope 103, and Champions/Heritage the longest - 4877 and still only a slope of 103.
As the slope ratings indicate, this is a player friendly course, with enough tee boxes for golfers of any skill level to enjoy. The slope rating will not indicate that there are numerous
water hazards and sand bunkers to contend with (especially on the Masters and Champions). The Heritage nine has 26 bunkers situated greenside and along the fairways
(including large waste bunkers on 3 holes), and 1 water hazard. The Memorial has 31 bunkers, 1 water hole. The Champions has 27 bunkers with 3 water, and the Masters is the
most difficult and scenic with 39 bunkers (7 large waste), and 7 holes with water.
Eagle Ridge is a great outstanding golf experience, and although it may be out of the way, you may not find a better value. For more information, visit our page for the course by clicking here.
