The Club at Emerald Hills (954-962-7888)
Florida Golf Course Review
The Club at Emerald Hills is located in the Hollywood area of South Florida just a few minutes from I-95. Its urban location, however, belies the peaceful tranquility of this
beautifully landscaped, 18-hole, par 72 championship course. Emerald Hills features rolling terrain, undulating greens, impeccably manicured fairways and challenging water
holes. It has been recognized by the "Golf Digest Places to Play" publication for the past 10 years, and have been recognized as "One of the Nations Top Golf Clubs" rated
"Excellent" as voted by Players in "America's Top golf Courses" by ESPN and Zagat Survey 2004-2008.
The clubhouse at Emerald Hills features a well-stocked golf shop, men's and women's locker rooms with showers, spacious dining facilities and three ballrooms. The banquet
and catering facilities are equipped to handle events and tournaments of up to 200. It has been the host site for the Doral and The Honda Qualifier's for ten years, and have been
selected as one of the host sites for the U.S. Open, U.S. Amateur, U.S. Mid-Amateur, and U.S. Public Links qualifiers.
On property is a grass practice range and a short game area with practice bunker, chipping green and large putting green (which we highly recommend you use before play). The
course is well-marked with tee box markers, yardage blocks in the center of the fairways at 100/150/200 yards (250 yards on par 5's), and sprinklers heads marked. All markings
are measured to the center of the green. Daily hole locations are posted at the first tee and a Garmin GPS system is provided on all carts that offers accurate measurements to the pin.
As mentioned before, the course is very well maintained. The Bermuda tees, fairways and rough are perfectly manicured and the Tif Eagle greens are carpet-like. It is obvious
that this course receives tender loving care from the staff at Emerald Hills. Designed by Bruce Devlin & Robert Von Hagge the course opened in 1969, and underwent an
extensive redesign in 1989. The greens were renovated to Tif Eagle Bermuda in 2000.
Play at The Club at Emerald Hills is a serious test for all levels of golfer, but seven sets of tees provides ample opportunity to experience a challenging yet fair round here. The
new emerald tees measure 7827 yards with a slope/rating of 148/78.6, the gold tees measure 7,368 yards and slope/rating of 145/76.1 the black tees play 6,931 yards (139/73.8
); The blue tees measure 6,563 yards (136/72.2); the white tees measure 6,106 yards (127/70.0 men, 140/76.2 woman); silver tees are 5,477 yards (123/66.8 men, 129/72.7
women) and red tees measure 49.39 yards with a slope of 121 and a course rating of 69.2.
Water features on 12 holes are absolutely beautiful on this course, and generally lead to large undulating greens with drastic sloping and difficult hole placements. The fairways
also offer rolling terrain and 40 strategically placed bunkers beacon mis-hits on doglegs and approaches.
The Club at Emerald Hills is a must play in South Florida and highly recommended by TwoGuysWhoGolf.com. For those on holiday in the area - it will be the highlight of your trip.
