THE FLORIDA CLUB (772-287-3680)
Florida Golf Course Review
The Florida Club is a beautiful par 72 championship 18-hole course located just southwest of Stuart, Florida. Designed by Dick Grey, The Florida Club is a classic Florida style
layout with towering old oaks, pine and palmettos lining fairways that meander through an upscale residential area, but houses are only visible on the back 9 and do not detract
from play. Updates to the course have made significant improvements in play providing a challenging round for experienced players as well as a forgiving round for average duffers.
The clubhouse features a well-stocked golf shop and the Florida Club Grill, a full-service restaurant/bar open 7 days a week. Practice facilities include a large 15-acre driving
range, two practice putting greens, two bunkers and a short-game area. Qualified instructors are on hand to lessons.
There are 5 sets of tee boxes offering golfers of all skill levels an opportunity to play comfortably. Distances measure 6738 yards/130 slope, 6481 yards/127 slope, 6055 yards/118
slope, 5623 yards/115 slope for men and 132 slope for women, and 4982 yards with a slope of 116 for women. Golf carts are equipped with Visage GPS that provides yardage
measurements from tee to green and accurate hole location information. The fairways and tee boxes are Celebration grass and are beautifully groomed. Well-manicured
TifEagle greens are incredibly large and fast.
Carpet-like fairways provide ample landing areas both off the tee and on approach. While fairly level on the front nine, number 10 gives players a preview of the undulating fairways
on some of the holes on the back 9. The layout makes good use of coquina waste bunkers that line the fairways and, at times, double as cart paths. \\There are 33 sand bunkers
on the tract, 7 holes where water comes into play and 14 holes that make significant use of waste bunkers. Although there are quite a few beautiful holes on The Florida Club - we
appreciated the aesthetics and challenge of #13 - a par 5 with a pot bunker at 100 yards, water on the left and a beautiful green with water guarding the left and back. The most
notable hole, however, is the par 4 16th that plays over water to a peninsula green - absolutely beautiful.
Although The Florida Club has always been one of our favorite Treasure Coast courses, the improved greens, the great course conditioning and the friendliness and
professionalism of the staff, makes this course a "must play".For more info, visit our page for the Florida Club, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
