FOREST LAKE GOLF CLUB (407-654-4653)
Florida Golf Course Review
Forest Lake Golf Club in Ocoee is a 4 star (Golf Digest Places to Play) Clifton, Ezell, Clifton design that traverses 7113 yards of gently rolling terrain. The countryside atmosphere -
with no residential development - offers outstanding beauty amongst a multitude of native trees and natural lakes. It is a favorite of locals, and is a worthwhile drive for visitors to
the Orlando area - and highly recommended by twoguyswhogolf!
There are 5 sets of tee boxes that allows golfers of all abilities with an opportunity to choose a set that matches their game. Scratch players will be challenged from the tips that
measure 7113 yards with a 128 slope. alternate tees measure 6748 yards/127 slope, 6327 yards/126 slope, 5779 yards/121 slope for men and 126 for women, and 5065 yards
with s lope rating of 117 for ladies hitting from the forward sets. There are 61 sand bunkers situated near the landing zones on the fairways or greenside, and water comes into
play on 8 holes - mostly on the perimeters.
Gentle elevation changes and generous fairways lead to large undulating greens, which are well maintained all year long. Most fairways are tree lined, and but their is a good mix
of open and tight driving holes. The front side is mildly rolling, while the back side has more noticeable elevation changes and also features the par three 14th signature hole - over
an expansive pond to a well bunkered green complex. The environment is incredibly serene - making us regret that we did not have the time to play this course on our fall visit. The
property is easily accessible from the turnpike, SR 429 or I-4, and is just a 20 minute drive downtown Orlando.
On property at Forest Lake is clubhouse with pro shop plus restaurant & lounge. Practice facilities include a targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker and putting
green. There are markers on the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and Pro Shot GPS that is standard on all carts provides accurate yardage to the center of the green. Color
coded flags indicate front, middle and back pin placements.
With the secluded environment, well maintained playing surfaces, wonderful variety in hole design and very affordable rates - this is one of the best golf values in the Orlando area.
If you have not played this course in a couple years, you will be pleasantly surprised ...On our May 2015 visit, the course was in outstanding condition. For more info, visit our page
