GOLDEN GATE COUNTRY CLUB - Closed
Florida Golf Course Review
The Golden Gate Country Club is a Dick Wilson/Joe Lee championship design on location at the Quality Inn & Suites Naples Golf Resort. This property is considered to be one of
Naples' outstanding golf value destinations, with 18-holes of challenging yet player friendly golf, lit practice facilities, and accommodations in 180 standard rooms, efficiencies and
suites. Amenities and features include an outdoor swimming pool & Jacuzzi with adjacent chickee bar, T.A. Fitzgerald's Restaurant/Lounge, meeting and banquet room, and
recreational opportunities that include tennis, basketball, bocce and shuffleboard. On my review round, I stayed for dinner and was happy with the quality and especially the price!

The golf course is a traditional design featuring over 50 strategically placed sand bunkers, a moderate number of water hazards (6) and numerous trees that make for a
challenging yet user friendly golf experience. There is a lighted driving range and 2 practice greens, plus a short game area with sand bunker - ideal for those staying on property,
but also open for public usage, even for those not playing the course. The clubhouse features a pro shop, locker rooms with showers plus restaurant/lounge that is open for
breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with Sunday Brunch also available.
On course yardage markers are provided with 100, 150 and 200 yard blocks in the center of the Bermuda fairways, and color coded flags indicate front, middle and back pin
placements. Cart paths also provide measurements. Four sets of tees afford golfers with opportunities to play to distances and slopes measuring 6556 yards/125 slope, 6200
yards/122 slope, 5736 yards/121 slope and 5312 yards with a 117 slope from the forward tees.
Golfers will encounter a laid back and pleasing golf experience, with a nice variety in hole design featuring a mix of ample and narrow fairways, and protected and open green
complexes that are usually raised. There are some interesting doglegs, especially on the back side, with the designs favoring a right to left shot shape. Good scores can certainly be had.
As the slope ratings indicate, this is a player-friendly resort golf experience - ideal for mid handicappers and for folks looking to play an interesting round without breaking the bank.
Green fees are reasonable year round, with rates including cart on weekends during prime season in 2005/06 topping out in the $80 price range. The resort is conveniently
located from either 1-75 or US 41. For directions and more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
