HAMMOCK BAY GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB (239- 394-4811)
Florida Golf Course Review
Hammock Bay Golf & Country Club was named one of the top 10 new private courses in the world to open in 2004, by Travel & Leisure Golf Magazine. The terrain is unique to the
area, quite rolling with mild elevation changes, with tropical landscaping highlighted by plentiful palms, native lakes, mangroves and beach-like areas. The course has been
granted the highest level from Audubon International - as an AI Certified Gold Signature Sanctuary.
On property is a full service clubhouse with well stocked pro shop, restaurant/lounge, outdoor tiki bar, locker rooms with showers, and meeting event facilities. The practice area is
comprehensive with a targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker plus putting green. Members enjoy privileges at the landscaped pool area, fitness center, tennis
courts, spa and more.
There are five sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6912 yards/134 slope, 6502 ayrds/126 slope, 6003 yards/115 slope, 5429 yards/ 109 slope fro men
and 120 for women, and 4876 yards with slopes of 102 for men and 116 for women. As the distances and slopes indicate, this is a challenging experience from the back tees, and
very playable for average golfers and for ladies playing from the middle and front sets. The course is well marked with sprinkler heads and 100/150/200 yard markers on the
fairways of all par fours and fives. All tee areas are marked and pin placement sheets are posted on each golf cart.
Golfers will encounter water in play in some shape or form on 14 holes, and 54 sand traps of various shapes and sizes are located near the landing zones or greenside. The
course features Seaside Dwarf Paspalsm turf from tee to green, providing a very consistent playing surface throughout. The par threes are gorgeous and sprawling crushed stone
waste areas provides aesthetics and challenge as well. The rolling fairways are often tree lined with ample landing zones, and the large true rolling green complexes alos provide
room for recovery.
This is a beautiful course - fair for all levels of golfers, and highly recommended! For more information, visit our listing page for this course, with map, directions and all the
