Heritage Harbour Golf & Eatery (941-746-2696)
Florida Golf Course Review
Never met an Arthur Hills design that I did not like - and Heritage Harbor Golf & Eaters (formerly Stoneybrook Bradenton) is no exception! This par 72 championship layout is known
for its risk/reward qualities that require golfers to utilize every club in their bag. It is also known for its large, true rolling putting surfaces, and for varied terrain with landscaping that
features mature woods, wetland preserves and plentiful ponds and lakes.
The four sets of tees at Heritage Harbour are fairly evenly interspersed, with the tips playing to a formidable 7131 yards with a slope of 142. Alternate sets play to 6555 yards/135
slope, 5929 yards/124 slope and 5162 yards/117 slope. The four par threes all present water hazards, but are reasonably short in length, and are handicapped 15 - 18. There are
also 4 par fives, three with strategic design and one (number 11) that is a monster in length at 600 yards from the tips. The par fours are an interesting group, with wetlands and
ponds framing the fairways on many holes, and strategic bunkering throughout.
At this writing the construction of a new and permanent clubhouse was nearing completion, with a planned opening of January 2005. This new facility includes a full service
restaurant, pro shop, plus banquet and outing facilities. On property is a grass tee area that that plays to an aqua range, 2 putting greens, plus short game area with practice
bunkers. Golfers will be pleased to know that Par View GPS is standard on all carts, providing hole diagrams and accurate yardages from tee to the pin. Yardage blocks are also
posted on the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards.
This beautifully landscaped property, which traverses an upscale residential community, is located off I-75 less that 10 minutes from downtown Sarasota. It is an exceptional
facility for golf outings, tournaments and special events, with expert planners and wonderful service available.
Rates are competitively priced. Golfers will find a mix of ample and tight fairways, outstanding conditioning on the fairways, and green complexes that often feature mounding and
collection areas that create some tricky up and downs. There is generally room for error, but a good short game will certainly come in handy.
