MADISON GREEN COUNTRY CLUB (561-784-5225)
Florida Gol,f Course Review
Madison Green Country Club opened in the fall of 2001 and was named as the "Best New Public Course" by Florida Golf Magazine, with the highest rating for course conditions
and service in Palm Beach County. . Golf Digest, Golf Magazine and Best Golf Network have also given the layout glowing reviews. This John Sanford design features six sets of
tee boxes that afford all levels of golfers an opportunity to play a round from distances that suit their games. The shot angles from the back tees make the course extremely
challenging for scratch players, while from the forward sets the course becomes much more straight-forward. Tif Eagle greens provide true and quick putting surfaces, and the
sand barrens that line many fairways create a unique feel.
Amenities here include a full service clubhouse with a well stocked pro shop, plus a Grill & Pub that is open daily for lunch from 11AM - 3 PM, with dinner on Thursdays and Fridays
from 5 to 9 PM. Practice facilities (including an aqua range and large putting green) and locker rooms are on property. Individual and group instruction are available. Madison green
is known as an upscale public course with private amenities and service, and the UpLink GPS that is standard on all carts certainly adds to this reputation. The six tee boxes play
to yardages and slopes/ratings measuring as follows: back tees: 7000 yards (73.9/152), blue tees: 6601 yards(71.8/147), white tees: 6009 yards (69.3/129 men & 74.6/141
women), yellow tees 5338 yards (66.8/124 men & 71.4/134 women), silver tees: 5307 yards (70.5/145) and red tees: 4800 yards(68.5/117).
The lush environment here includes over 1000 palm trees plus palmettos, pines and natural grasses. 42 acres of water hazards and 100 natural sand bunkers/waste areas also
add character and challenge, and the length and shape of the par fours and fives create a nice balance to the layout. Those playing from the championship tees beware... as the
152 slope indicates, your game will be challenged. Landing areas off the tee disappear into the many hazards located just off the fairway. Length and shot location are vital to scoring well.
The blue tees with a slope of 147 are challenge enough for good players. Land on the greens in regulation, and your work is not done. Although recognized as some of the most
finely conditioned greens in the area - these putting surfaces have slopes and ridges that will challenge the short game skills of all players. Mounding and extensive greenside
bunkering also make up and down recoveries quite tricky.
Madison Green Country Club is easily accessible from both the turnpike and from I-95, and is just 15 minutes from downtown West Palm Beach. The course is visually stunning -
and obviously challenging. This is a course where prior course knowledge will certainly go a long way to keeping scores down. For more info, visit our page for the property, with
