MIAMI SHORES GOLF CLUB (305-795-2366)
Florida Golf Course Review
Miami Shores Golf Club is a traditional Red Lawrence parkland design that features understated bunkering along a gently rolling terrain that is home to a vast array of majestic
oaks, sub-tropical wildlife and vegetation. Water comes into play on 8 holes, including many that necessitate drives over the wide Biscayne Canal that traverses the property, and
69 sand bunkers dot the layout. Manatee sightings in this canal are not unusual.
Patrons are raving about the Mine Verde Greens here! They run fast and true and are a wonderful upgrade from the Tif Dwarf greens of the past. The greenside bunkers also were
renovated from the previous design, making the course more approachable.
Located just 15 minutes for downtown Miami, Miami Beach or from the Airport, Miami Shores provides golfers with the opportunity to experience a beautiful layout for extremely
reasonable rates. The historic setting includes the Flagler Train Line, which runs through the golf course. A bonus - there are no residential properties along the layout!
On property are a grass range with target areas, plus a practice green for putting and chipping. The clubhouse features a pro shop stocked with clothing and golf accessories, plus
a full service restaurant/lounge. Changing areas equipped with showers are available for men and women. Miami Shores is known for its expertise in hosting golf tournaments,
outings and special events. A variety of rooms can be set up to host meetings, business functions and golf outings of various sizes - of up to 288 people.
The golf course provides four sets of tees that play to a par 72, and range in distances and slopes from 6705 yards/131 slope, 6310 yards/130 slope, 5511 yards/129 slope and
5031 yards - with a slope rating of 124 for women. Rated 3 stars by Golf Digest Places to play, Miami shores is a perfect course for the intermediate player, as it features fairly open
fairways with wide landing areas, and small, fast putting surfaces. The design includes 4 par threes and 3 par fives, with the remainder of the layout consisting of reasonably
lengthed four pars.
There are yardage blocks on the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards (plus 250 on par fives), and color coded flags indicate the day's pin locations. Great location, competitive
pricing and very good conditioning make this one of the area's best golfing values.
