Myakka Pines Golf Club (941) 474-1753
Florida Golf Course Review
Myakka Pines in Englewood (about 70 minutes north of Fort Myers) is a great value golf facility that features 27 holes of diverse golf over a fairly level terrain with prominent water
hazards that accommodate abundant native wildlife. On our early May visit we encountered over 2 dozen alligators of various sizes, as well plentiful turtles and waterfowl.
The clubhouse includes a pro shop plus snack area serving hot and cold sandwiches, plus a wide variety of drinks and alcoholic beverages. There is a full service practice facility
with targeted range plus short game area with sand bunker and putting/shipping green.
The photos in this review are of the White and Red nines – the Blue course was closed for seasonal maintenance during our visit. Uniquely, there are no residential homes on
property – which helps to create natural surroundings for the plentiful gators, birds and other species. Golfers will find the course well marked with 100, 150 and 200 yard markers
on the fairways and cart paths of all par fours and fives. Pin placement sheets indicate the day's hole locations.
There is a mix of tree-lined holes and those with wide open landing zones, and most approaches play to small, roundish greens that are only mildly sloping. Water is abundant
here, with hazards coming into play on 17 of the 27holes. There are over 60 sand bunkers situated greenside or near the generally wide landing zones along the fairways.
There are five sets of tees that play to distances topping off at 3309 yards from the red nine, 3145 yards from the white nine and 3190 yards from the Blue Course. The Red/White
configuration plays to a slope rating from 129 to 91 (97 for women); The White Blue routing plays to a slope between 127 and 89 (104 for women) and the Blue Red plays from 129
to 93 (101 for ladies). For more info visit our page for the course with direct link to their website by clicking here.
