PALM AIRE GOLF - The Cypress Course (954-978-1737)
Florida Golf Course Review
General information
Palm Aire in Pompano Beach has been described as South Florida's most complete golf experience. On property are 3 golf courses, 2 full service clubhouses with pro shops, 2
golf schools, 2 restaurants, banquet and outing facilities, and over 30 tennis courts. Practice facilities include 2 driving ranges, 4 practice greens, 2 short game areas and a four
-hole practice loop. Since 1994, over $14,000,000 has been invested to renovate the golf courses and amenities. The Oaks and Cypress Courses are serviced by one clubhouse,
and the Palms by another.
Palm Aire has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments including the Florida Open, Dixie Amateur Championship, and Nike Tour's South Florida Classic. The Oaks and
Cypress layouts are regarded among the finest 36 holes of golf in the tri-county area. The courses provide yardage blocks on the fairways, sprinkler heads that are measured to
the center of the green, plus color coded flags to indicate the days pin placement.
CYPRESS COURSE
The Cypress is renowned as one of the areas most beautiful and challenging courses in South Florida - and is our webmaster's favorite design of the 5 at Palm Aire. Meandering
fairways framed by tropical landscaping and crystal clear lakes compliment the gently undulating grees and powdery bunkering of this spectacular layout. The Cypress and Oaks
clubhouse features a dining room and lounge that can accommodate up to 100 guests, plus the Cypress and Magnolia banquet rooms that can facilitate large or intimate functions.
As past host to the Florida Open, Dixie Amateur and Men's Broward Amateur Championships, the Cypress features finely manicured conditions from tee to green. Tom and
George Fazio designed the course in 1972, providing elevated greens, strategic bunkering and fairways that are lined with beautiful palms and cypress trees. Five sets of tees
here play to distance and slopes measuring 6808 yards/132 slope, 6515 yards/131 slope, 6051 yards/130 slope, 5405 yards/126 slope, and 5214 yards from the forward tees with
a slope of 122 for the ladies. As the slope ratings indicate - this is a premier golf experience, with Fazio-like risk reward opportunities amply available. The average player will find a
good game from the middle tees - though all three back tees provide a challenging experience. Shot placement is just as important as distance on this beautiful layout.
Palm Aire is conveniently located off Florida's Turnpike near the Atlantic Blvd exit north of Ft Lauderdale and south of Palm Beach, and is also easily accessible from I-95 at exit 33.
