PALM BEACH NATIONAL GOLF CLUB (561-965-3381)
Florida Golf Course Review
Palm Beach National in beautiful Lake Worth is a classic Joe Lee design that offers tree lined fairways with generous landing areas plus superb conditioning highlighted by Tif
Eagle greens, which provide some of the best rolling outing surfaces in South Florida. Home to the Joanne Carner Golf Academy for Ladies, this property features a wonderfully
maintained practice facility featuring a grass range, two putting greens, plus a short game area with sand bunker. The Academy- run by the PGA Hall-of-Famer with a 3-1 teacher
ratio is a popular one, and hosts one, two and three day golf programs from mid January through mid-April.
The clubhouse facilities include a pro shop with a full line of clubs, attire and accessories, plus a Dining/Grill Room which serves a casual breakfast and lunch menu, with dinners
available periodically during the season. A popular "happy hour" and an always unpretentious atmosphere have earned the clubhouse a reputation as a friendly place for food,
drink and socializing. The club also specializes in outings and tournaments for groups from 12 to 144.
Trees, water and bunkers frame the manicured fairways, with two par threes and two par fives per nine holes. Five sets of tees play to distances and slopes measuring 6734
yards/130 slope, 6537 yards/128 slope, 6115 yards/124 slope, 5615 yards/120 slope and 5086 yards with a slope of 117 from the forward tees. Color coded flags indicate front,
middle and back hole locations and color coded markers on the fairways and cart paths are posted at 100, 150 and 200 yards. All carts have rear covers to protect clubs during
inclement weather.
The course is beautifully landscaped with palms and tropical foliage. Green complexes are raised and protected by contoured bunkers filled with soft white sand. The medium
sized putting surfaces are also undulating - and frequented with tiers and ridges. Two of the prettiest holes on the course are featured in the photos above - the par three 8th on the
left and the short par four finishing hole on the right.
Golfers of all skill levels will appreciate this design, which presents tree lined fairways and numerous doglegs. Fifteen holes have water in play and approximately 62 sand
bunkers are situated along the fairways or greenside. The practice facilities afford golfers with an opportunity for a good warm up or lesson, and spacious locker room facilities
with showers for men and women are also on property. For more info, visit our page for Palm Beach National, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
