The Preserve at Tara in Bradenton is a Ted McAnlis signature championship course that winds through natural, lush marsh areas and wetlands. 52 lakes are on property,
providing sanctuaries for an abundance of Florida waterfowl and wildlife. Memberships for singles, couples and families are available, but this course is open for public play.
On property is an aqua driving range with target island greens, short game area plus putting green. The clubhouse provides a grill with hamburgers and hot dogs in
season…during the shoulder and off season only snacks and beverages are available. There are changing rooms with showers for both men and women.
Most holes are tree lined with plentiful landing zones off the tee, squeezed by the canals and ponds that come into play on each and every hole in some shape or form - mostly on
the perimeters. There are 44 sand and waste bunkers in play greenside or along the landing zones on the fairways. Canals wind through the property and natural areas and
wetlands abound.
Waste areas double as partial cart paths and border many fairways, and lead to mildly mounded green complexes that provide significant room for recoveries from offline
approaches. Bump and run chips are viable for shots landing short as the greens are usually open in front. Risk reward doglegs tempt golfers to cut off some distance on several
holes, with water and sand serving as deterrents.
There are 6 sets of tees that play to distances and slopes measuring 700 yards/140 slope, 6500 yards/135 slope, 6005 yards/ 122 slope, 5575 yards/117 slope, 4870 yards/112
slope and 5095 yards with a slope pf 115 for ladies hitting from the forward tees.100, 150 and 200 markers are situated on the fairways and pin placement sheets are mounted
on the golf carts. Prices are reasonable all season long.
