Providence Golf Club (863) 420-2652
Florida Golf Course Review
Providence Golf Club in Davenport, Florida is an 18-hole championship layout designed by Mike Dasher. It is a Florida links-style course that winds through some of central
Florida's pristine wetlands and features freshwater streams & creeks and ancient hardwoods. Immaculate conditioning is found throughout the course - from the Bermuda tees,
fairways and rough to the hybrid Bermuda greens.
The clubhouse at Providence Golf Club is a beautiful 8,000 sq. ft. Floridian design with a nicely appointed golf shop, restaurant, banquet facilities and patio dining. Professional
staff has over 45 years of experience in the golf industry and is dedicated to customer service. Providence Golf Club provides golfers with a country-club atmosphere.
The practice facility at the Providence Golf Club includes a large grass range, short game area and practice greens. Club rentals are available at the course and lessons can be
arranged. Providence has a "Players Development Program" that includes lessons, play with the pro, range use, and more. Golf carts are equipped with ball and club washers
and club protectors - much appreciated on damp Florida mornings.
Four sets of tees assure every level of player a fair, yet challenging, round of golf. The back tees measure 6,929 yards with a slope/rating of 131/73.3. Middle tees measure 6,370
and 6,023 yards with slopes/rating of 119/70.1 and 117/67.8 (women's slope/rating 129/73.3). The forward tees measure 5,110 yards and have a slope/rating for 114/69.1 for
women and 104/64 for men.
Water plays a significant role in the layout of Providence Golf Club. There are 13 holes with water in play and only 35 bunkers. Wind will come into play on the front nine, but this is
- overall - a player friendly course. Club selection is important on most approaches and the greens are quick and true. As mentioned before, the layout traverses some of Florida's
beautiful wetlands and we found that nature shows abundantly on this course in the form of mature stands of trees and wildlife. We saw over 14 alligators (staff informed us that
most were last year's hatchlings), numerous cranes and egrets, great blue heron, wild turkey, hawks and snakes. Otters are also known to inhabit the many ponds on the course.
This is very little human habitation on Providence Golf Club - we found only a smattering of houses between holes #2 and #6. Other than that, the course is one of the most
peaceful layouts we've played. There are no major roads nearby - thus no traffic sounds - no industry, no lawnmowers....just the sounds of nature. Absolutely wonderful! And
Providence is only a short drive from all of the major Orlando attractions.
Providence Golf Club is a "must play" in the Orlando area - it is a respite from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas and promises every golfer the best in Florida golf
experiences. For more information on this course visit our information page by clicking here.
