San Carlos Golf Club (239-267-3131)
Florida Golf Course Review
San Carlos Golf Club in Fort Myers (southwest Florida) is an 18-hole championship design that is a perfect fit for families, seniors and novice or intermediate level players. The
wide fairways and accessible green complexes, along with low lipped sand bunkers, create a non-intimidating golf experience.
The greens are medium in size and usually slope mildly from back to front. The 39 soft sand bunkers located near the landing zones on fairways or greenside - are designed for
escape-ability. The front nine is free of water hazards, but 5 of the 6 holes on the back have ponds in play, with a forced carry on 16. Golfers will find a mix of straight away holes
mixed in with some interesting doglegs, which favor those who shape their shots from right to left.
Four sets of tees play from distances and slopes measuring 6465 yards/120 slope, 6074 yards/ 116 slope, 5692 yards/113 slope, and 5191 yards with a slope of 113 for ladies
hitting from the forward sets. As the slope ratings indicate, this is a course that is ideal for a first round on a trip, or those looking to play in beautiful surroundings without the
pressure of facing challenging hole after challenging hole.
The yardage marking system consists of 100, 150 and 200 yard markers on the fairways of all par fours and fives, with color coded flags indicating the day's front, middle or back
hole locations. There is an aqua range on property, along with short game area with sand bunker and putting green. The clubhouse features a pro shop plus dining area
Besides the 39 sand bunkers, there also are plentiful crushed coral waste areas, which add to the aesthetic beauty. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to
