STONEYBROOK EAST GOLF CLUB (407-384-6888)
Florida Golf Course Review
Stoneybrook Golf Club is a stunning golf course located in East Orlando on S. Alafaya Trail - just afew mile south of the 408 (East-West Expressway). True to Stoneybrook form
(there is another Stoneybrook course west of Orlando, and a couple in SW Florida), this property in immaculately landscaped, providing golfers with top notch conditioning and a
pleasant golfing environment, as it meanders through an upscale residential community.
Unlike many residential Florida courses, Stoneybrook provides significant areas of seclusion with tree lined fairways and preserved wetlands and waterways. Designed by Clifton,
Ezell and Clifton Golf Design Group, this layout is home to the Central Florida's women's golf team. The beautiful setting includes water in play on 13 holes, with 46 sand bunkers
located greenside or along the landing zones. The design is varied, providing challenges off the tee on some holes, and tight green complexes on others.
Most golfers will have the opportunity to use every club in their bag, and all will appreciate the final four holes - which provide one of the most exciting finishes in Central Florida golf
. Four sets of tees provide players with coices of playing to distances and slopes measuring 6820 yards/135 slope, 6221 yards/128 slope, 5821 yards/122 slope for men and 128
for women, and 4881 yards with a slope of 114 for ladies playing from the forward tees. Uplink GPS is standard on all carts, which also provide rear covers to protect clubs during
inclement weather. Sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green, and yardage blocks are also posted at 100, 150 and 200 yards.
An aqua range with grass teeing area and fairway bunker is on property, as is a short game area with sand trap and a 24,000 square foot putting green. The sports lounge and
restaurant feature lunch and dinner menus from 11 am, with a breakfast brunch on Sundays. The outstanding atmosphere is highlighted by ten satellite dishes and
banquet/outing facilities that can accommodate up to 164 guests. There is a full service pro shop and instruction from a staff of PGA professionals is also available.
As with all good courses, Stoneybrook features a strong finishing hole - a par four that winds along a lake that runs the length of the hole along the right side (see two photos
above). Throughout, players will enjoy the little extras, like the drives through forested swamps and wetlands, and the detailed landscaping. This is a highly recommended round of
golf for visitors to the Orlando area. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
