Summerfield Crossings Golf Club (813-671-3311)
Florida Golf Course Review
Summerfied Crossings is a 4.5-star (Golf Digest Places to Play) Ron Garl designed championship course that is recognized as one of South Tampa's finest. Conveniently located
off I-75 near the Apollo Beach exit, this par 71 6903 yard layout features a taste of Scotland - with scenic rolling terrain, numerous pot bunkers and challenging undulating putting
surfaces. The signature hole is the beautiful par three fifteenth, which presents an island green that is surrounded by water.
The golf course provides four sets of tees that play to distances and slopes measuring 6903 yards/125 slope, 6375 yards/121 slope, 5779 yards/115 slope and 5139 yards with a
slope of 114 for the ladies. Water comes into play in some shape or form on 14 holes, and 41 sand bunkers are located along the fairways or greenside.
Pin placement information is provide for on each scorecard, and the course is well marked with measurements indicated on the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards, plus sprinkler
heads that are measured to the center of the green. Golfers will find wide meandering fairways the lead to oversized undulating green complexes, many of which are open in front,
inviting bump and run approaches.
The clubhouse at Summerfield Crossings features a full service pro shop with golf equipment, accessories and apparel. Golfers will appreciate the "try it before you buy it" policy
on demo clubs, and the club-fitting system that is available. Potential buyers can try out the clubs on the grass range, or on the putting green or short game area on property. Doc's
grille is a full service restaurant that can seat up to 160 people, making Summerfield an ideal place for outings and tournaments. The Inner Circle Golf Academy provides a variety
of instructional programs.
With an interesting and nicely conditioned course, wonderful facilities, and competitive pricing, Summerfield crossing is a great golf value. The newly renovated Champion
Ultradwarf putting surfaces are a pleasure to put on, and the water hazards and waste bunkers keep the round interesting.
