Tranquilo in Orlando is spectacular championship golf course that is the recreational centerpiece of the Four Seasons Resort Orlando. Tranquilo was re-designed by Tom Fazio, who was also the original designer of the layout which was previously called Osprey Ridge. It is situated in the Disney Resort
Community. Golfers may be surprised by the rolling topography, which features several elevated tee areas that lead to manicured fairways flanked by tropical native foliage and
pristine landscaping. The property adheres to a "green philosophy" and includes numerous wooden bridges in the design, that cross canals and traverse through native natural
areas and forests.
The clubhouse includes a well stocked pro shop plus restaurant/lounge with outdoor patio serving a lunch menu, plus banquet/outing facilities and locker rooms with showers.
Everything from the service to amenities here is first class! Apples and oranges are available in coolers situated in the shelter near the 12th green, and rest rooms and shelters
are dispersed every few holes along the layout. The new 16-acre, $2.5 million, state-of-the-art practice facility features a double-ended driving range with a two acre natural grass
tee box, a chipping and pitching area totaling 14,000 square feet, greenside and fairway practice bunkers, an additional 13,000 square-foot putting green, and TrackMan swing
analysis technology. As an added benefit, the driving range at Tranquilo Golf Course is designed for play as a 6-Hole Par 3 course, and will be available during pre-scheduled
times throughout the year. Titleist golf clubs and shoes are featured as rentals– with junior size clubs also available. There are even 2 family size carts to serve guests. The
locker rooms are well appointed, with towels and toiletries provided.
On my May 2017 visit there were no residential buildings on property, but that will change soon with several upscale homes being built. Even then, golfers will appreciate the
seclusion and natural environment of Tranquilo! In keeping with the green philosophy, the electric carts feature a GPS system that provides accurate yardages from tee to green, in
the absence of yardage booklets and printed information.
Golfers will have to navigate a considerable amount of water hazards, as canals, wetlands and ponds come into play in some shape or form on 14 holes. There are 53
strategically situated sand bunkers near the landing zones on the fairways or adjacent to the Tiff Eagle green complexes, which uniquely feature Tiff Grand turf as collars. The sand
traps are filled with Pro-Angle sand, which absorbs water more efficiently and gives golfers a feeling of what it is like to play out of professional, tour quality bunkers.
There are five sets of tees that play to distances and slopes measuring 6901 yards/127 slope, 6450 yards/124 slope, 6015 yards/118 slope for men and 131 for women, and 5110
yards with a slope of 120 for ladies hitting from the forward sets. As the yardages and slopes indicate, this is an experience that can be enjoyed by a wide variety of players. We
