WALDORF ASTORIA GOLF CLUB ( 407-597-3783)
Florida Golf Course Review
The Waldorf Astoria Golf Club is the centerpiece of the Waldorf Astoria Orlando, a luxury resort on 482 emerald green acres near the Walt Disney World Resort. The Waldorf Astoria
in NYC set the standard for urbane sophistication, and this Orlando property reverently follows in its footsteps. For more info on the resort property including photo images of
rooms and suites, dining/entertainment, spa facilities, pool and recreation, meetings, special events facilities and more, visit their website by clicking on www.waldorfastoriaorlando.com/resort/
The golf complex- conveniently situated on resort property, includes a beautifully designed Rees Jones championship layout, a clubhouse grille ( with nice outdoor patio) , locker
rooms with showers, pro shop, plus full service practice facilities. In Waldorf Astoria fashion, the golf carts feature a wonderful GPS system ( listen to the helpful tips this talking
GPS offers for each hole) , plus air conditioning, bottled water and towels. The conditioning and landscaping from tee to green make golfers feel as though they are experiencing
an exclusive private club - this course is OPEN to the general public!
The design implements a five tee system that affords players of all skill levels to enjoy a round here. The tips will challenge the best golfers with a distance of 7108 yards and a
slope rating of 139. Alternate sets play to distance and slopes measuring 6657 yards/132 slope, 6301 yards/127 slope ( ideal for the average golfer), 5998 yards/120 slope fro
men and 134 for adventuresome women) and 5179 yards with a slope of 107 for men and 123 for ladies hitting from the front tees. The Green tees (5998 yards) provide an
opportunity for resort golfers and casual playerstot enjoy themselves while also experiencing the challenges of this fine layout.
There are 12 holes with water in play in some shape or form, and approximately 60 white sand bunkers can be found near the landing zones or greenside. These sand traps are
often sprawling, creating the illusion that there are more of them than the 60 or so we counted. While there is usually ample room off the tee, the fairways are generally tree-lined,
or defined by water hazards that make accuracy an important aspect of play here. There are some long par fours, even from the middle tees.
The green complexes are often raised with mild slopes and undulations. Land on these Tif Eagle putting surface in regulation, and good scores can be had as they roll firm and
true. The rolling 419 Bermuda fairways also present top notch playing surfaces, and this course is green all year round as the entire course is over-seeded for the winter season.
Simply put, this course is absolutely beautiful! As they should be - prices are upscale during the prime season, and extremely good deals can be had during the off-season. A golf
academy, offering group and private lessons is also on property. Play here and you will come away feeling you have experienced on of the finest golf courses in Central Florida -
highly recommended. For more info, visit our page for the course with direct link to their website by clicking here.
