Panther Run Golf Club is one of the premier golf facilities in the Naples region of Southwest Florida. Located in Ave Maria about 30 miles from Naples, this
property was nominated as a candidate for best new course upon opening by Golf Magazine. Managed and operated by Troon Golf, Panther Run is a
Gordon Lewis championship course that features generous fairways and plentiful lakes and waterways
The course management is intent on preserving the natural surroundings, even as the residential buildings begin to manifest. The waterways are full of
alligators and other native wildlife. I spotted 7 or 8 alligators, numerous turtles plus a couple eagles during my review. The ranger on duty (Bill) took the
time to tell me several stories about gator encounters - I imagine it would be difficult to play a round here without seeing one.
On property is a clubhouse with pro shop, separate building for dining and snacks, plus a wide array of amenities for members and guests. The practice
facility includes an aqua range with peninsula target greens, a nice short game area with sand bunker, plus putting greens near each nine and in front of the clubhouse.
There are 6 sets of tee boxes - designed to satisfy the skill levels of a wide variety of golfers. The tips measure a whopping 7532 yards - so get ready to
grip it and rip it. The top slope is 139. Alternate sets play to 6695 yards/130 slope, 6207 yards/125 slope, 5739 yards/120 slope for men and 125 for
women, 5245 yards/115 slope for men and 119 for ladies, and 4664 yards with a slope of 112 for women hitting from the front tees.
The course is well marked with sprinkler heads and 150 yard stakes measured to the center of the green on all par fours and fives. Each scorecard has
green diagrams with pin placements divided into 3 sections. There are 63 soft sand bunkers on course and 13 holes have water hazards in play in some
shape or form. Nice course - nice facilities and excellent service - highly recommended! Don't feed the gators !
