GRENELEFE GOLF & TENNIS CLUB East Course (863-422-7511)
Florida Golf Course Review
Grenelefe in Haines City (South of Orlando and the Disney attraction areas) is a 36-hole championship facility featuring two distinctively different golf experiences. This region is
known for its good variety of golf courses - away from the hustle and bustle (and traffic) of the nearby tourist destinations. The courses at Grenelefe were designed in the late
1970's/early 1980's and have undergone recent renovations to improve the overall quality of these interesting designs.
Golfers will not find the upscale amenities provided at many of the resort properties in the Disney area, but they will encounter secluded golf experiences on time-honored tracks
that have previously served as qualifying courses for both the PGA and Senior PGA Tours. Practice facilities are efficient - with a grass range, short game area with sand bunker
plus putting green. Beverage carts make the rounds, and the clubhouse includes a pro shop plus snack bar area and lounge.
EAST COURSE
The East Course was designed by Ed Seay (with the assistance of Arnold Palmer) in 1983, and features a tightly tree lined terrain, with undulating fairways that will challenge
players with frequent un-even lies. Though not overly long, this layout packs some punch as golfers will have to be precise off the tee and accurate with their irons on the approach
shots to the moderate size green complexes.
This is a shot-makers course - and not one for those who like to grip it and rip it off the tee. If you like to play driver on every tee shot, you could be in frequent trouble here. There are
many interesting holes, beginning with the opening par five that plays from an elevated tee. Most of the design is straight forward - and golfers will be required to hit it straight
throughout the round.
Both courses are marked with sprinker heads measured to the center of the green as well as each hole is marked with 100, 150 and 200 yard markers on the fairways measured
to the center of the green. All carts include a pin placement sheet including front middle and back hole locations. In total there are 50 sand bunkers situated near the landing
zones or greenside, and 6 holes have water in play in some shape or form.
Rates at Grenelefe are very reasonable - play both and you will find two completely different golf experiences. Special rates are available for groups, and outings and charity golf
tournaments are welcome. This property is just a short drive from Orlando, and the value makes the drive worth while. For more info, visit our page for the course with all the
