ORANGE LAKE RESORT Cranes Bend nine hole executive course ( 407-239-1050)
Florida Golf Course Review
Cranes Bend is a beautiful par-30 nine hole executive course that underwent a complete renovation and opened for play in 2005. It is part of the 54-hole golf complex that makes
Orange Lake one of the premier golf destinations in Orlando. Orange Lake boasts upscale condominium style accommodations, villas and time share units, along with a full array
of amenities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, mini golf, workout facility, meeting/conference areas, dining options and more. The golf complex features 36 holes of
championship golf (with the opening of the Reserve resort course scheduled for December 2005) the Legends Walk - a lit par three nine-hole course that takes tee times until 9
PM, plus Cranes Bend - a par 30 executive style 9-hole design. This review features photos and description of the Cranes Bend Course. For photos and info about the Arnold
Palmer designed Legends, Legends Walk, and the new resort course (The Reserve) - scroll down on this page...
Cranes Bend shares a clubhouse with the NEW Reserve championship course (open December of 05) - and features a pro shop plus restaurant/lounge. Practice facilities include
a putting green plus spacious range nearby which is open for night practice. The property rests along a main section of the resort community, near the main pool and water recreation area.
Golfers can expect to find the same wonderful conditioning exemplified by the Legends Course, as Cranes Bend presents manicured, landscaped tees and fairways, plus true
rolling putting surfaces. Those who have not visited Orange Lake in the past year will be extremely surprised and pleased with the new upscale conditioning program on property!
As the photos indicate, this layout presents enough trouble in the form of water, sand and native foliage - to make this an interesting and enjoyable experience for all levels of golfers.
For those looking to hone their iron game, or for those strapped for time - Cranes Bend provides a great and viable option for an quick round. There are 6 par threes ranging from
65 to 184 yards in length, plus 3 par fours that from the tips measure 360, 337 and 354 yards. The total distances for the nine holes on the three sets of tee areas measure 1901,
1667 and 1342 yards.
A round on Cranes Bend is highly recommended. This facility is open to the public, and resort guests receive a substantial discount. Also on the Orange Lake property the "Swings
the Thing" Golf School - directed by Top 50 Instructors Rick McCord and Dick Farley, and rated among the 25 best golf schools in America by Golf Magazine. Call 407-905-1955 for
